Social Media Manager

EWG’s social media program is a key way we raise awareness of our groundbreaking research and is critical to our mission. Through innovative social campaigns, EWG helps to educate the public.

The Social Media Manager, reporting to the Digital Vice President, will be primarily responsible for further developing and connecting with EWG’s social media community, and creating a robust community management strategy. We are looking for a motivated, social media professional who can enhance our brand and build strong online communities through our various social media platforms.

What you will do:

  • Design and implement a social media community management strategy to align with organization’s goals.
  • Oversee the production and timeline of social media content calendars to ensure they support organization goals.
  • Generate, edit, publish and share engaging content daily (e.g., original text, photos, videos and news).
  • Work with communications team to drive social referral traffic.
  • Collaborate with creative, communications and government affairs teams to generate engaging campaigns.
  • Work with the other Social Media Manager to develop social media analytics reports to measure the success of social accounts and campaigns.
  • Identify key social influencers and coordinate relationship development.
  • Manage communications with followers, ensuring timely response to questions.
  • Provide recommendations, best practices and insights on an ongoing basis.
  • Stays current on latest technologies and trends in social media, design tools and applications.
  • Bring new ideas for Instagram, Facebook and Twitter platforms to the table to ensure social content is up to date on the latest relevant trends.
  • Manage monthly paid social media budget and determine how to best use it to support organization goals, social referral traffic and channel growth.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: 3 to 5 years managing social for a nonprofit or consumer-facing brand.
  • Keen understanding of the “social media world,” including latest trends and algorithm changes.
  • Knowledge of social media analytics and reporting. Experience with publishing platform, such as Sprout Social, strongly preferred.
  • Experience with community management and/or customer service.
  • Experience implementing paid social campaigns across different social media platforms.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects under tight deadlines.
  • Strong writing skills.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of Photoshop, Canva or other graphic creation platforms a plus.
  • Knowledge of EWG’s issues and a curiosity about the impact of the environment on our health.

Location: Washington, D.C., office. EWG has a hybrid work model that allows employees to work from home part of the time.

Benefits:  For those who meet all position requirements, the salary is around $60,000.
